To start with, here are a few things I love:
Theatre
Education
Bristol
The 90s
All four of these have played a huge role in my personal development and I wouldn't be the person I am today without them. So I was delighted when Joe Plumb (Artistic Director of Horse Box Theatre Company) invited me to direct a new production of Bristol-based theatre collective The Wardrobe Ensemble's brilliant play Education, Education, Education which is set on the day after Labour's monumental election victory in 1997.
After one of the shortest, most testing (testing in that myself and the cast had not worked before, nor ever met in-person) but highly-enjoyable rehearsal periods where the whole play was rehearsed, performed, filmed and edited in isolation during lockdown, the final show is ready to air.
Oh, and it's the first time I have ever directed and worked with an adult cast I do not know, and the first time ever I have edited a video. So I've learnt a few things too!

Making this production even sweeter for me was getting the chance to work with NST Youth Theatre members and staff again after the devastating news that NST would be no more. I hope it brings the audience the same enjoyment and much-needed escapism it has given me during this bleak time for the UK theatre industry.
